Estimation of Creep and Recovery of Carboxyl-terminated Butadiene Acrylonitrile-epoxy Shape Memory Polymers under Tensile Loading

چکیده
The creep and recovery of 5% carboxyl-terminated butadiene acrylonitrile (CTBN) modified epoxy shape memory polymers (SMP) was studied. The results were compared with those for the unmodified epoxy SMP. The glass transition temperatures (Tg) were determined using Advanced Rheometric Expansion System (ARES). The creep behavior of the unmodified epoxy and 5wt.% CTBN modified epoxy SMP were studied through short-term tensile creep test. These tests were carried out at different temperatures ranging from glassy, viscoelastic, and rubbery regimes and different loading conditions. It was observed that Tg is slightly reduced by the addition of CTBN in the SMP. For both the SMPs, the creep strain increases with increasing temperature and shows a maximum in the vicinity of the Tg. Furthermore, creep strain increases with increasing load in the glassy and rubbery regimes. A mutual comparison revealed that the creep strain was higher for unmodified epoxy SMP than that of 5% CTBN modified epoxy SMP at all the temperatures considered. A higher percentage creep recovery was noticed in the case of the CTBN modified epoxy SMP as compared to the unmodified epoxy SMP.

Effect of Alumina Nanoparticles on the Enhancement of Shape Memory, Mechanical and Impact Properties of TPU/ABS blend
In this paper, the shape memory, mechanical and Izod impact properties of a new shape memory nanocomposite based on thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and alumina nanoparticles were investigated. The morphological results showed that the presence of 1% alumina nanoparticles made a reduction in diameter of ABS domains and caused a uniform distribution of the ...

In order to enhance the compatibilization and interfacial adhesion between epoxy and liquid carboxyl-terminated butadiene acrylonitrile (CTBN) rubber, an initiator was introduced into the mixture and heated to initiate the cross-linking reaction of CTBN. After the addition of curing agents, the CTBN/epoxy blends with a localized interpenetrating network structure were prepared. The mechanical p...

Despite the unique properties of epoxy resins, their use is limited in many cases due to their low impact resistance. One of the methods to overcome this limitation is to use compounds for increase Toughness such as carboxyl-terminated butadiene acrylonitrile (CTBN) (94% Wt) in the epoxy matrix. In this study, investigated the curing reaction of CTBN with 1,2,7,8 diepoxyoctane (DEO)(5% Wt) in t...

The role of matrix ductility on the toughenability and toughening mechanism of elastomermodified, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA)-based epoxies is investigated. Matrix ductility is varied by using epoxide resins of varying epoxide monomer molecular weights. These epoxide resins are cured using 4,4' diaminodiphenyl sulphone (DDS) and, in some cases, modified with 10vol % carboxyl-termina...
